Coochin Fields

The 155ha Coochin Fields site, 12km South of Caloundra, is an idyllic festival location on the banks of the Coochin Creek riparian corridor, with long views to the Glasshouse Mountains. The Comiskey Group plans to develop the site to accommodate a diversity of events, from large-scale, multi-day, music festivals, to extensive exhibitions/shows, with the added aim of expanding regional opportunities and boosting the local economy.

The larger, southern section will house the main festival grounds (multiple stages) scaleable for up to 100,000 people with food/beverage vendors, performer/crew facilities and bus station/car parking. The site’s northern section can host up to 12,000 event - attending campers.
CUSP was commissioned to design a masterplan with a structured (but flexible) distinctive layout that reflects local context; establishes public transport nodes; has identifiable entry points; and integrates the main pedestrian links/vehicular circulation with events areas/staging/services.
Subject to formal process, the project already has enthusiastic support at both state and local government levels and funding opportunities are currently being explored.
